F1 Tornado in Roebuck- April 8th, 2006
Another F1 tornado occurred in Roebuck. The tornado first touched down in Roebuck Municipal Golf Club at Donna Hawkins Park, west of Interstate 59. The tornado generally tracked in an easterly direction, crossed the interstate and affected Roebuck. The tornado ended near Roebuck Plaza and US Highway 11. Hundreds of large hardwood trees were blown over or uprooted. Numerous pine trees were snapped off along the path. Several of the fallen trees landed on homes and produced substantial damage. An estimated 50 to 100 homes suffered varying degrees of damage. The tornado began at approximately 123 AM and was on the ground until about 127 AM. The tornado damage path was 3.2 miles long and 100 yards wide at its widest point. A Tornado Watch was in effect for Jefferson County from around noon until 400 AM. A Tornado Warning was in effect for Jefferson County from 1258 AM valid until 145 AM. This tornado was produced by the same storm that produced the tornado in Gardendale.
