F0 Tornado in Childersburg - April 8th, 2006
An F0 tornado touched down near the Coosa River and traveled southeastward through the Pinewood Terrace community in northern Childersburg. The tornado damage path was 0.6 of a mile long and was 100 yards wide at its widest point. The tornado was on the ground at approximately 203 AM CDT. Many trees were snapped off and uprooted. Some of these trees fell onto homes and automobiles in the Lakeside and Bates Subdivisions near State Highway 235. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued at 159 AM CDT and was upgraded to a Tornado Warning at 209 AM CDT valid until 245 AM CDT.
