Waves of Storms on June 3 Produce 5 Tornadoes, Wind Damage, and Flooding

 

Several waves of thunderstorms moved across Central Indiana on June 3 from morning all the way into evening. One tornado occurred during the morning, one in the afternoon, and 3 during the evening. All the rain from the thunderstorms also led to flash flooding and eventually flooding of area rivers. Below are some radar images and pictures of damage from the tornadoes. Following the pictures is a text summary of severe weather reports received for part of the day.

Greene County - Lawrence County tornado:

This late morning tornado has been rated as an EF-1. Below are radar images of radar reflectivity and storm relative velocity.  In these images, the radar is located to the north (top).

Morgan County tornado:

This late afternoon tornado near Waverly has been rated as an EF-0.


Brown County - Johnson County tornado:

This evening tornado has been rated as an EF-2 and impacted areas such as Camp Atterbury and Edinburgh. In the storm relative velocity image, the radar is to the northwest.

This evening tornado has been rated as an EF-3 and impacted areas such as Moscow.
