Severe Storms of June 19, 2006

Strong thunderstorms erupted across central Indiana Monday June 19, 2006, producing scattered wind damage and large hail.

An initial group of storms developed over the heart of the state near mid day, moving across the Indianapolis metropolitan area, knocking down trees and power lines. These storms continued to organize into a long east-west oriented line as it marched into southern Indiana, producing scattered tree damage and hail, up to baseball size, near Brazil.

A second cluster of storms developed late afternoon near Tipton and moved southeast to Anderson and Muncie. These storms produced hail ranging up to golfball from Tipton to Anderson.
