Tracking Late December Winter Storm Expected to Impact the Northern Plains through the Northeast U.S.

A winter storm system will rapidly intensify over the Midwest on Sunday and track through the Great Lakes on Monday. Periods of heavy snow are anticipated across the Upper Great Lakes late Sunday and continuing into Monday. Overview

Snow developed across central Indiana during the late afternoon and evening hours ahead of an area of low pressure. Snow fell at around an inch per hour at some locations. Snow eventually changed to rain during the night at most areas. Snow totals up to around 7 inches were reported. Additional light snows fell the next evening.
