The National Weather Service Indianapolis Doppler Radar (KIND) is scheduled to be out of service from October 28th through November 1st for a complete refurbishment of the radar transmitter. This work is part of the National Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) to refurbish and maintain the WSR-88D radar network and keep all radars working well into the 2030’s. If the scheduled work is completed early, the radar will be returned to service at that time.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but we ask for your patience as we work to improve and extend the life of the WSR-88D.
