Details:

  1. 2/25/1956: This tornado touched down around Olney, and moved east-northeast into Lawrence County.  The worst damage was in Lawrence County around Pinkstaff.
  2. 8/18/1956:  Touched down near Olney, and moved east-northeast. 
  3. 5/21/1957:  Touched down just south of Claremont, and moved east-northeast to the Lawrence County border.  Four farms were hit, with one barn destroyed.
  4. 3/6/1961:  This tornado originally touched down in Flora, then moved east-northeast to the Olney area, where it damaged or destroyed several farm buildings, trees, and power lines.
  5. 11/26/1965:  Touched down on the southwest edge of Olney, damaging several trailers and an ice plant.  Some elevated damage occurred elsewhere in town, when the tornado was aloft.  Five people were injured.
  6. 6/6/1974:  Touched down 2 miles north of Olney and moved northeast for 3 miles.  It removed a roof from a barn, causing about $5,000 damage to the barn and 200 bushels of seed beans.
  7. 3/15/1984:  Brief touchdown in Olney.
  8. 6/2/1990:  The tornado was part of an outbreak of 66 tornadoes, which affected eastern Illinois, Indiana, southwest Ohio, and northern Kentucky.  This particular tornado touched down in Wayne County, then clipped southeast Clay County before moving into Richland County near Schnell.  It passed 2 miles south of Noble, then ended about a mile south of Olney.  The overall path length was 19 miles.
  9. 8/3/1991:  This tornado caused $2.5 million damage in Olney, peeling back the roofs of two apartment buildings and a Wal-Mart.
  10. 4/15/1998:  This tornado touched down in eastern Clay County, then moved northeast into Richland County.  It destroyed a shed 5 miles north of Olney.
  11. 5/27/2008:  A brief landspout tornado touched down in an open field just north of Calhoun.
  12. 5/25/2011:  Brief touchdown in a field 3 miles west-northwest of Olney.
  13. 6/19/2015:  One of two tornadoes that touched down in Richland County from the remnants of Tropical Storm Bill.  This one touched down 1.4 miles northwest of Olney, causing minor damage to a retail store.
  14. 6/19/2015:  One of two tornadoes that touched down in Richland County from the remnants of Tropical Storm Bill.  This one touched down 2.3 miles north-northwest of Olney, uprooting a few trees and knocking several large tree branches down. It tracked through a mobile home park and a golf course near highway 130. 
  15. 4/27/2016:  Brief touchdown in an open field 1.7 miles north of Olney, causing no damage.
  16. 11/5/2017:  This tornado was on the ground for 6.8 miles, and touched down 3.4 miles north of Noble. Click here for more details. 
  17. 5/6/2021:  Brief touchdown in a field south of Noble, causing no damage.
  18. 6/17/2022:  Early morning tornado touched down about 5 miles northwest of Olney-Noble Airport, knocking down multiple power poles and causing damage to the roof of a barn.
