Details:
  1. 8/29/1955:  This tornado originally touched down in Scott County, 13 miles southwest of Jacksonville, and took an intermittent path into the northwest corner of Jacksonville, where several homes lost their roofs.
  2. 6/14/1957:  This tornado was on the ground for 3 miles, moving across the eastern portions of Jacksonville.  40 buildings had significant or total roof damage.
  3. 5/6/1960:  This tornado originally touched down near Carrollton in Greene County, then took an intermittent path northeast, crossing northwest Macoupin and southeast Morgan Counties before finally dissipating near Springfield.
  4. 6/23/1960:  Originally touched down near Virginia in Cass County, moved southeast and clipped far northeast Morgan County as it took an intermittent path to near Lake Springfield.
  5. 4/24/1961:  This tornado first touched down in Pike County, then moved across southern Morgan County before entering Sangamon County east of Waverly. 
  6. 7/21/1961:  Brief touchdown 4 miles northeast of Jacksonville.
  7. 2/19/1971:  Touched down 3 miles west of Chapin, and moved to the Cass County line just west of Arenzville.  Destroyed several farm buildings and severely damaged a house and several other buildings.
  8. 6/4/1973:  Touched down 1 mile east of Meredosia, destroying a barn and garage.  It moved northeast for approximately 10 miles.
  9. 12/4/1973:  Moved across Murrayville, doing extensive damage to homes and buildings.
  10. 8/2/1974:  Touched down across western portions of Jacksonville and moved east across town, causing $50,000 damage. 
  11. 8/8/1987:  A weak tornado touched down 2 miles southwest of Jacksonville.
  12. 3/6/1992:  Brief touchdown 5 miles southwest of Jacksonville, damaging the roof of a building.
  13. 5/9/1995:  Brief touchdown 1 mile northwest of Alexander, damaging a home and destroying two sheds.
  14. 5/9/1995:  Brief touchdown 1 mile east of Prentice, damaging two homes and destroying several outbuildings.
  15. 5/27/1995:  Touched down in Meredosia, causing minor damage to several buildings.
  16. 4/19/1996:  Touched down 2 miles east of Jacksonville, moving across the correctional center.  It was aloft for 2 miles, then touched down again, before lifting 1 mile north of Orleans.
  17. 4/19/1996:  Brief touchdown 2 miles east of Alexander.
  18. 4/8/1999:  Touched down 5.5 miles west of Jacksonville, and traveled for 10 miles to Arcadia (north of Jacksonville).  It damaged or destroyed several outbuildings, especially near Arcadia, where several homes also had roof damage.
  19. 4/8/1999:  This tornado touched down near Sinclair, and moved northeast into extreme southeast Cass County.  A few outbuildings and a mobile home were destroyed in Morgan County, but most of the damage occurred in Ashland (Cass County).
  20. 5/26/2000:  On the ground for 2 miles, moving northeast across Murrayville.  A garage and lumber yard were destroyed.
  21. 6/11/2002:  Brief touchdown in an open field 1 mile west of Murrayville.
  22. 5/24/2004:  This tornado moved across Jacksonville.
  23. 3/12/2006:  This tornado first touched down in northern Greene County, then moved into Morgan County, affecting Murrayville.  Click here for more details.
  24. 3/12/2006:  This tornado originated in Pike County, and moved across portions of Greene and Scott Counties before entering Morgan County near Murrayville.  After passing just north of Franklin, it moved into Sangamon County.  Of the overall 66 mile path length, the tornado was on the ground for 20 miles in Morgan county.  Click here for more details.
  25. 3/12/2006:  This tornado touched down just northeast of Franklin, and moved into Sangamon County.  Click here for more details.
  26. 5/30/2008:  This tornado touched down 3 miles west-southwest of Waverly, and crossed into Sangamon County southeast of Waverly.  It damaged two houses and a pole barn, and destroyed a garage, shed, pole barn, and two grain bins. 
  27. 8/19/2009:   This tornado moved in from Scott County, then lifted 3.5 miles southwest of Franklin.
  28. 8/19/2009:   This tornado touched down in extreme southeast Morgan County, then moved into Sangamon County.
  29. 8/31/2012:   This tornado was spawned by the remnants of Hurricane Isaac.  It touched down about a mile south of Franklin and tracked north-northwest for about a quarter mile, damaging an auto shop and the roof of a house.  One person was injured when a mobile home was blown off its foundation.
  30. 8/31/2012:  This tornado was also spawned by the remnants of Hurricane Isaac.  It briefly touched down about 3 miles northwest of Franklin, causing no damage.
  31. 2/20/2014:  Brief touchdown in an open field north of Bethel.
  32. 2/20/2014:  Touched down in an open area, and did not strike any structures along its 5.6 mile path.  Click here for more details.
  33. 4/29/2017:  Touched down in an open field 2 miles northeast of Alexander, and was on the ground for about 2/3 mile. No damage was reported. 
  34. 12/1/2018:  Part of a historic late-season tornado outbreak, this tornado touched down 2.5 miles northeast of Meredosia before dissipating near the Cass County border. 
  35. 7/15/2020:  Touched down 3.5 miles north-northwest of Waverly, moving into Sangamon County. Minor crop and tree damage was reported in Morgan County.
  36. 7/10/2021:  Touched down along Arenzville Road and moved northeast, causing damage to trees and power lines. 
  37. 10/11/2021:  Touched down near Alexander and crossed I-72 near mile marker 76. Click here for more details.
