October Precipitation Highlights:

  • October was drier than normal across the region, with areas north of I-70 around an inch below normal and areas south of I-70 two to three inches below normal.

October Temperature Highlights:

  • Temperatures averaged near to slightly below normal during the first half of the month, but a cold snap and hard freeze occurred from the 17th to the 19th.
  • Temperatures warmed to above normal on the 21st and 22nd, with highs soring into the 80s at many sites, but it was short lived and temperatures quickly returned to near normal where they stayed for the remainder of the month.

  • Record warm low temperature of 62 F was set at Peoria on October 23rd.

  • The Climate Prediction Center suggests that temperatures for the month of November will lean above normal for central Illinois, while precipitation chances lean slightly towards below normal across eastern Illinois.
