February Key Points:

  • February was an exceptionally warm and dry month across central and southeast Illinois.
  • Monthly precipitation ranged from 0.50 - 1.00".  This was 1 to 2 inches below normal, placing some sites in their top 5 driest February. 
  • Monthly snowfall ranged from less than one inch south of I-70, to 3-4" from Peoria to Bloomington.  This place many sites along and south of I-72 in their top 10 least snowy February.
  • Monthly mean temperatures averaged 8 to 12 degrees above normal.  This placed many sites in their top 5 warmest February.

Winter Season (DEC-FEB) Key Points:

  • The winter season saw below normal precipitation and snowfall, and above normal temperatures.
  • Precipitation ranged from around 1.50" in west central Illinois, to around 5 inches in east central Illinois.  These totals were 1 to 4 inches below normal.
  • Snowfall ranged from around 10 inches north of I-74, to around 2 inches south of I-70.  These totals were 5 to 15 inches below normal.
  • Mean temperatures were 4 to 8 degrees above normal.
