Heavy Rain in the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys; Watching for Tropical Cyclone Development in the Atlantic

Heavy to excessive rainfall may bring areas of flash and urban flooding over portions of the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys. Two tropical waves in the Atlantic are being monitored for tropical cyclone formation within the next few days. Clusters of strong to severe storms on Wednesday may bring damaging winds, heavy rain, small hail, & frequent lightning to all of north Alabama & southern middle Tennessee between 2-9PM. Make sure to remain weather-aware and have multiple ways of receiving warning information!

A slight risk of excessive rainfall (2/4) is in effect for areas north of the TN River. Prolonged period of heavy rainfall may lead to ponding of water and flooding. Make sure to have multiple ways to receive warnings and never drive through flooded roads.

There is a low chance of strong to severe storms forecast on Wednesday that will bring threats of damaging winds, small hail, and heavy rainfall which could lead to flooding. As a cold front moves through the region, shower and storm chances then decrease through late week, with low chances for the weekend. Highs are expected to be in the 70s/80s with lows mainly in the 50s/60s after Wednesday night.
