Madison County, AL (Huntsville)

At 5:17 PM CST, a tornado first touched down in a residential development on Redstone Arsenal just north of Goss Rd. A narrow tornado uprooted a large tree, then prodeeded into a residential area along Magnolia Circle. In this location the tornado tore shingles off roofs and ripped siding off several homes. The tornado then lifted briefly before touching down again near the intersection of Triana Blvd and 9th Ave in Huntsville. From there, it proceeded northeast for 4.4 miles, through Old Town and the Five Points area before lifting near the intersection of Gaboury Ln and Rosalie Ridge Rd near Chapman Mountain. Along the way, many hard and softwood trees were snapped, as were several wooden utility poles. Multiple well-built single family homes sustained substantial roof damage, both from tornadic winds and fallen trees.

Franklin, TN (Sewanee)

The tornado first touched down on the west side of Jump Off Rd near the Sewanee Airport. Numerous large trees were snapped or uprooted. The tornado continued to move northeast with minor damage to homes and trees snapped along Leaky Pond Lane. Along Otter Falls Lane in the Midway community a home sustained significant structural damage when the carport was destroyed and the chimney was destroyed by flying debris.

The tornado continued to produce mainly minor damage to a few homes along with sporadic tree damage as it moved northeast toward the Marion County line. One resident reported hearing and seeing very large hail just before the tornado occurred, and their home sustained roof damage and a car in the driveway was damaged by a falling tree. The tornado eventually weakened as it tracked into Marion County.
