Radar Data
This National Weather Service radar loop between 11:48pm and 12:30am shows a rotating supercell thunderstorm tracking across extreme southern DeKalb County. The imagery shows a circulation couplet (the velocity imagery in the left pane) strengthening as it approaches the Collinsville area. The circulation moves across southern portions of the county, and weakens gradually before exiting into northern Georgia.  The storm relative velocity product in the left panel shows winds toward (blue/purple) and away (green) from the radar at Hytop, AL initially.  However, this transitions into the more commonly recognizable green/red color shading as the storm moves further to the northeast.  Click on the image below to observe the loop.
