E. BEACH EROSION...MODERATE BEACH EROSION OCCURRED FROM HIGH ISLAND
TO MATAGORDA. IN GALVESTON COUNTY THE GEO TUBES (BEACH EROSION
MITIGATION PROJECT) PREVENTED EROSION OF THE DUNES BEHIND THEM.
MUCH OF THE SAND WAS LOST ON THE GULF SIDE OF THE TUBES BUT THAT
WILL BE REPLACED.


F. FLOODING...SEVERE FLOODING OCCURRED OVER PORTIONS OF
BRAZORIA...EASTERN MATAGORDA...WESTERN FORT BEND AND EASTERN
WHARTON COUNTIES OF TEXAS. 10 TO 20 INCHES OF RAIN FELL IN
AN AREA FROM FREEPORT NORTH NORTHWEST TO BOLING IN EASTERN
WHARTON COUNTY. HARDEST HIT AREA WAS IN SOUTHWEST BRAZORIA COUNTY
NEAR THE COMMUNITY OF SWEENEY.

G. TORNADOES...4 TORNADOES WERE REPORTED AS TROPICAL STORM FAY
MADE LANDFALL. THE FIRST DESTROYED A BEACH HOUSE IN
SURFSIDE. THE SECOND TORNADO HIT WEST COLUMBIA TAKING DOWN
NUMEROUS TREES ALONG HIGHWAY 36. THE THIRD AND MOST
SIGNIFICANT TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN IN EXTREME EASTERN FORT BEND
COUNTY DESTROYING ONE MOBILE HOME AND INJURING 2 PEOPLE. THIS
SAME TORNADO CROSSED THE SAN BERNARD RIVER INTO WHARTON
COUNTY WHERE IT DESTROYED 1 OTHER MOBILE HOME AND HEAVILY
DAMAGED TWO OTHERS. THE FOURTH TORNADO DID MINOR DAMAGE NEAR
HUNGERFORD IN WHARTON COUNTY.

H. STORM EFFECTS...
GALVESTON COUNTY...135 RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURES WERE AFFECTED BY
FAY WITH 23 RECEIVING MAJOR DAMAGE. OVER 4 MILLION DOLLARS DAMAGE
TO PUBLIC ROADS...BRIDGES AND RECREATIONAL AREAS. 3.5 MILLION OF
OF THIS DAMAGE WAS DUE TO BEACH EROSION.

BRAZORIA COUNTY...OVER 1500 HOMES FLOODED. OVER 800 HOMES
RECEIVED DAMAGE FROM WINDS AND TORNADOES. NEARLY 100 BUSINESSES
WERE DAMAGED ALONG WITH NEARLY 100 MULTI-FAMILY BUILDINGS.
NEARLY 500 CARS WERE FLOODED.

MATAGORDA COUNTY...130 SINGLE FAMILY HOMES WERE DAMAGED MAINLY
BY FLOOD WATERS ALONG WITH 32 BUSINESSES. OVER 1 MILLION DOLLARS
IN DAMAGE WAS DONE TO PUBLIC FACILITIES INCLUDING ROADS AND
BRIDGES AND PUBLIC BUILDINGS. DAMAGE WAS A RESULT OF HIGH
TIDES AND HEAVY RAIN.

WHARTON COUNTY...OVER 200 SINGLE FAMILY HOMES WERE
DAMAGED OR DESTROYED. 7 HOMES WERE DAMAGED BY TORNADOES
WHILE THE REMAINDER OF THE DAMAGE WAS DUE TO FLOODING.

FORT BEND COUNTY...ONE MOBILE HOME WAS DESTROYED INJURING TWO
PEOPLE INSIDE.
