National Weather Service United States Department of Commerce

Warm conditions expected Sunday with highs in the mid to upper 80s for much of the inland portions and the mid to upper 70s for the coast. Expect south-southwesterly winds at 15-20 mph with gusts of 25-30 mph during the day. A cold front will quickly move across Southeast TX, leading to isolated to scattered showers and storms along the boundary. Some storms could be strong to severe.
A line of showers and storms will develop along a frontal boundary as it pushes through late Sunday afternoon/evening. A few of these storms within the line may become strong to severe. Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) for our far northeastern counties. Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for the majority of Southeast Texas.
A Wind Advisory is in effect for all of Southeast Texas Sunday morning through Monday afternoon.
Winds and seas begin to increase overnight into Sunday in advance of the approaching cold front. This will increase the potential for strong rip currents on Sunday. This front will push offshore Sunday evening with showers and storms along the boundary. In the wake of this front, expect strong northerly winds (30-40 kt with 40-45 kt gusts) and elevated seas (10-15 ft) through Monday. A Small Craft Advisory goes into effect on Sunday morning for both bays and the Gulf waters through Sunday evening. This then transitions to a Gale Watch that will remain in effect into Monday afternoon.
Cold and dry air will move in behind the cold front with lows dipping in the 30s and 40s. Skies will become clear. Expect strong northerly winds at 20-30 mph with gusts of 30-40 mph. A Winds Advisory will be in effect for all of Southeast Texas.
Very dry air and gusty northerly winds will prevail in the wake of the front going into Monday. As a result, a Fire Weather Watch is in effect Monday morning through Monday evening for areas generally along and west of the I-45 corridor and along the coast.
A strong cold front will cross the area Sunday afternoon and evening. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms to occur along the front. Some of the storms could become severe. Much cooler weather will follow the front for early next week, then warming up going into next weekend.
