Overview
On April 22, a tornado touched down on the west coast of Lake Livingston in San Jacinto County. It crossed the lake and struck the city of Onalaska and continued across much of Polk County. This webpage will be updated with more information about the storm as we learn more, including the results of today's damage survey. The Enhanced Fujita (EF) Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories:
EF0 Weak 65-85 mph |
EF1 Moderate 86-110 mph |
EF2 Significant 111-135 mph |
EF3 Severe 136-165 mph |
EF4 Extreme 166-200 mph |
EF5 Catastrophic 200+ mph |
Hail
In addition to a strong tornado, this storm also generated large, damaging hail. As of April 23, the largest reported hail was two inches in diameter, which fell to the north of the tornado in Trinity, TX.
