Severe thunderstorms will be possible on Independence Day, mainly across parts of the Upper Mississippi Valley, Ozarks, and southern/central Plains. Excessive heat with possible record highs and warm overnight lows will continue to impact much of the West into next week. Significant Events
  • 2009 - Light snow fell in areas northwest of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. In portions of Montague County, snow remained on the ground from the heavy snow event on Christmas Eve. 
  • 2000 - Officially, 0.7" of snow fell during the afternoon at DFW Airport. However, there were several reports of 2" snow depths across the Meteroplex. Thundersnow occurred in southwest Dallas and northwest Ellis counties where local snow depths as much as 4" were observed.
  • 1978 - An ice storm, which was more severe in Dallas than Fort Worth, was not represented at DFW Airport.
  • 1959 - A trace of snow fell.
  • 1958 - There was a trace of snow left on the ground from a previous storm.
  • 1947 - Snow and sleet amounted to only a trace.
  • 1946 - Snow and sleet accumulated to 2.6".
