The first significant heat wave of the year will arrive in Georgia this week. Heat index values in the triple digits are expected in many parts of the state midweek.
Ample heat and moisture may allow storms to become strong to severe. The main hazard will be damaging winds, though frequent lightning and heavy rainfall will also be possible.
