...SEPTEMBER 2008 ONE OF THE DRIEST EVER IN CENTRAL GEORGIA...

RAINFALL WAS SPARSE ACROSS MUCH OF NORTHERN AND CENTRAL GEORGIA IN
SEPTEMBER. HOWEVER...IN THE CENTRAL PART OF THE STATE IT WAS ONE
OF THE DRIEST EVER RECORDED.

MACON RECEIVED ONLY ABOUT A THIRD OF AN INCH (0.36 INCH) WHICH
IS THE THIRD LOWEST AMOUNT EVER RECORDED IN THE MONTH OF
SEPTEMBER. THE RECORD FOR THE MONTH IS 0.02 INCH WHICH OCCURRED IN
2005. NORMAL RAINFALL HERE IS 3.26 INCHES.

COLUMBUS RECEIVED ONLY ABOUT A HALF INCH (0.52) WHICH IS THE 5TH
LOWEST AMOUNT EVER RECORDED. THE RECORD IS 0.22 INCH WHICH
OCCURRED IN 1984. NORMAL RAINFALL HERE IS 3.07 INCHES.

IN NORTH GEORGIA RAINFALL WAS BELOW NORMAL...BUT NOT IN THE TOP
TEN DRIEST. ATLANTA RECEIVED 0.75 INCH AND ATHENS RECORDED 2.14 INCHES.
