Larger events that occurred across north and central Georgia this past March can be found here.

Flooding Rain (March 9th, 2024)

Nearly 6 inches of rain fell across parts of central Georgia between March 9th and 10th. Numerous flash flood warnings were issued especially in the vicinity of Columbus where some reports exceeding 6 inches were received. A stationary front across the southeast allowed PWAT values to exceed the climatology record providing an environment where life threatening rain caused significant issues across central Georgia.

Severe Weather (March 15th, 2024)

A line of thunderstorms across the southern most counties of our CWA were made of mostly embedded supercells that produced damaging winds, hail and spawned a few tornadoes. Dewpoints exceeding 60 degrees and a subtropical jet brought sufficient severe weather ingredients to spark a severe weather outbreak across most of central Georgia.

The April climate outlook is below.
