Georgia Weather History for April 2nd

In 2009, a series of upper level waves moved through a large, deep upper trough centered in the mid part of the U.S. One wave moved through early on the 2nd causing a minor severe weather event, while another wave moved through late in the day, causing a more significant severe weather outbreak. In addition to hail and downed trees, flooding also affected the area. Numerous roads across central Georgia were closed due to flooding, 30 of which were closed in Toombs County. In Crisp County, several homes in the Cordele area sustained significant flood damage.
