June 8, 2014 Troup County Tornado

 

Troup County near Lagrange:

In the early morning hours of Sunday, June 8, 2014, a squall line moved into western Georgia and produced a short lived EF1 tornado just west of Lagrange. The tornado touched down on Newton Road just east of West Point Lake at 159 AM EDT and traveled southeast, lifting about 2 miles north of Cannonville. Along its path it uprooted and snapped trees, one of those falling on 3 cars and crushing them. Other trees fell on a couple on houses causing damage. The tornado also destroyed a greenhouse and also caused shingle and siding damage on a couple of houses.
