Multiple Days of Severe Weather from Thunderstorms and Wildfires

Active spring pattern across the center of the nation with several rounds of severe thunderstorms in the forecast through the weekend. The regions under the greatest threats are the southern Plains into the Mississippi Valley. Red Flag Warning for Saturday and Sunday April 25-26
Wind Advisory for Sunday April 26
An upper-level storm system passes to the north on Sunday, bringing strong west-southwest winds to the Borderland. Area mountains and east slopes will see the strongest gusts with areas of blowing dust likely in the afternoon.
Dry and breezy to windy conditions are expected this weekend, resulting in moderate to high fire danger both Saturday and Sunday. Winds will be stronger on Sunday as RHs rise slightly and fuels continue to worsen. Our experimental Red Flag Threat Index forecasts near-critical to critical fire weather conditions during the afternoon hours.
