Severe Weather in the Central and Southern Plains; Rain and Mountain Snow in the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies

A powerful storm is expected to bring periods of heavy rain, gusty winds, and the potential for severe thunderstorms throughout the southern to central Plains through Monday. Widespread precipitation and heavy mountain snow is expected across the Northwest and northern Rockies through Monday. SUBJECT: New river forecast and flood warning services for
         South Fork Ninnescah River at Pratt.

...New River Forecasts and Flood Warnings along South Fork Ninnescah  
River in Pratt County...Effective on May 2nd, 2022 at 8 am CDT...

Per coordination with local officials, the NWS will begin providing
river forecast and flood warnings for the South Fork Ninnescah River
at Pratt, KS effective on May 2nd, 2022. The NWS Location Identifier (NWSLI)
for this site is PTTK1.

The new forecast point location is on the South Fork Ninnescah River
on the southeastern edge of Pratt on Country Club Road. This is a real-time
U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) streamgage which provides stage data. This
streamgage has a period of record back to 1981. This station is maintained
by the USGS Wichita field office and is funded by the Kansas Water Office,
and the USGS.
 
The NWS will provide river forecasts when the observed or forecast
stages go above the Action Stage. In addition, the NWS will issue
river flood warnings and follow-up river flood statements when the
observed or forecast stages go above the flood stage. Below are the 
stage thresholds for the South Fork Ninnescah River at Pratt - PTTK1
 
*Action Stage 7.0 FT
*Flood Stage and Minor Flooding 9.0 FT
*Moderate Flooding 11.0 FT
*Major Flooding 13.0 FT

River forecast for the South Fork Ninnescah River at Pratt will be available on
the NWS Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service (AHPS) website.
