Powerful Storm in the Western U.S.; Heavy Rain and Flooding Threat Across the Central Gulf Coast

A powerful storm system will continue to bring heavy mountain snow, rain, and high winds to the Pacific Northwest and northern California through midweek. Heavy rain and flash flooding potential exists across the central Gulf Coast over the next few days, including the Florida Panhandle. Overview

On August 28, 2020, a cold front moved southward across Pennsylvania, providing the uplift necessary to generate multiple severe thunderstorms. Impacts included heavy rainfall and strong winds, causing widespread damage across the state. Although there was radar-indicated rotation within some of these cells, it was later determined that no tornadoes touched down during this event.
