Severe Thunderstorms in the East Sunday; Excessive Heat Lingers in the Southern U.S. and Returning to California

Scattered damaging winds from severe thunderstorms will be possible across parts of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic States Sunday. Excessive heat will continue over the southern U.S. Sunday before another round of heat arrives Monday through the central and southern U.S. spreading into the East by Independence Day. We are not currently seeking any college students to volunteer at our office at this time.

The goal of our Student Volunteer Program is to allow the volunteer to gain practical experience and beneficial knowledge in the operations of a National Weather Service (NWS) Forecast Office. Student volunteers with the NWS office in Boulder will learn how to forecast in complex terrain, how to use the latest tools and technology in the forecast, and how to best communicate the forecast to key decision makers from across Colorado.
