A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS MOVED INTO NORTHWEST ALABAMA SHORTLY
BEFORE MIDNIGHT MONDAY NIGHT AND MOVED STEADILY EASTWARD ACROSS
ALABAMA DURING THE DAY TUESDAY. SEVERAL TORNADOES PRODUCED
DAMAGE ACROSS CENTRAL ALABAMA. NO INJURIES OR FATALITIES WERE
REPORTED.

TORNADO WARNING #65 WAS IN EFFECT FROM 124 AM UNTIL 200 AM.
WATCHES:
TORNADO WATCH #756 WAS IN EFFECT FROM 1144 PM UNTIL 700 AM.
THE TORNADO INITIALLY TOUCHED DOWN ABOUT ONE MILE WEST SOUTHWEST OF
MILLPORT WHERE A FEW TREES WERE UPROOTED. THE STORM TRAVELED
NORTHEAST AT AROUND 40 MPH...CROSSING HIGHWAY 17 ABOUT ONE HALF MILE
WEST OF MILLPORT. ON BOTH SIDES OF HIGHWAY 17 BETWEEN 50 AND 70
TREES WERE EITHER SNAPPED OR UPROOTED AND A COUPLE HOUSES SUSTAINED
SHINGLE DAMAGE. LIMBS WERE EMBEDDED INTO THE ROOF OF ONE HOME. IN
THE SAME GENERAL LOCATION...A TRACTOR TRAILER WAS OVERTURNED AND A
METAL ROOF WAS BLOWN OFF OR A GARAGE BUILDING. IN ADDITION...METAL
ROOF STRIPPING WAS BLOWN OFF OF A BARN ROOF AND TRANSPORTED 100
YARDS DOWNSTREAM INTO THE TOP OF A 60 FOOT TREE. THE STORM LIFTED
ON THE NORTH SIDE OF MILLPORT WHERE A FEW MORE TREES WERE SNAPPED
AND A BARN SUSTAINED SOME ROOF DAMAGE.

TUESDAY.
THE TORNADO INITIALLY TOUCHED DOWN JUST WEST OF COUNTY ROAD 3 ABOUT
ONE-HALF MILE SOUTH OF COUNTY ROAD 24. THE DAMAGE PATH ENDED
AT COUNTY ROAD 3. SEVERAL LARGE PINE TREES WERE SNAPPED OFF AND
SEVERAL LARGE HARDWOOD TREES WERE UPROOTED.

TORNADO WATCH #757 WAS IN EFFECT FROM 349 AM UNTIL 1100 AM.
THE TORNADO INITIALLY TOUCHED DOWN JUST EAST OF THE CULLMAN COUNTY
LINE AND TRAVELED EAST NORTHEAST AT AROUND 40 MPH. THE INITIAL
DAMAGE CONSISTED OF MINOR ROOF...GUTTER AND SHINGLE DAMAGE TO A
SINGLE FAMILY HOME. FURTHER DOWNSTREAM NEAR BLACK ROAD A METAL OPEN
ENDED GARAGE HAD ITS ROOF PULLED FROM THE BUILDING. ACROSS BLACK
ROAD A PORTION OF A ROOF WAS REMOVED FROM A HOME AND A LARGE SECTION
OF PRIVACY FENCE WAS TOPPLED. THE WORST DAMAGE WAS NOTED NEAR THE
INTERSECTION OF COUNTY ROADS 49 AND 6 WHERE SEVERAL LARGE HARDWOOD
TREES WERE UPROOTED. THE FINAL DAMAGE POINT WAS LOCATED ABOUT ONE
QUARTER OF A MILE EAST OF WILSON ROAD WHERE A METAL BUILDING WAS
DAMAGED.

THE TORNADO INITIALLY TOUCHED DOWN ABOUT THREE QUARTERS OF A MILE
WEST SOUTHWEST OF HIGHWAY 82 WHERE A FEW TREES WERE SNAPPED. IT
TRAVELED NORTHEAST AT AROUND 40 MPH CROSSING HIGHWAY 82 NEAR STEWART
STREET WHERE THE WORST DAMAGE OCCURRED. HERE...NUMEROUS TREES WERE
UPROOTED...SEVERAL HOMES SUSTAINED MINOR ROOF DAMAGE AND A COUPLE OF
METAL OUTBUILDINGS WERE DAMAGED. FARTHER NORTHEAST THE STORM
CROSSED US 31 NEAR PRATTVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL WHERE AN AWNING WAS
DAMAGED AND TOSSED NEARLY 50 YARDS. ROOF COVERINGS AND AWNINGS WERE
ALSO DAMAGED TO HOMES AND BUSINESSES ALONG SHELA BLVD. THE FINAL
POINT OF DAMAGE WAS LOCATED ONLY TWO TENTHS OF A MILE FROM THE
ELMORE COUNTY LINE IN THE PREMIERE PLACE SHOPPING CENTER. HERE A
PORTABLE FREE STANDING SECURITY TOWER WAS DAMAGE. IN ALL...SEVERAL
DOZEN TREES WERE EITHER SNAPPED OR UPROOTED...SEVERAL HOMES OR
BUSINESSES SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE AND SEVERAL METAL OUTBUILDINGS
WERE DAMAGED.

THE TORNADO INITIALLY TOUCHED DOWN ABOUT THREE QUARTERS OF A MILE
SOUTHWEST OF HWY 231 WHERE SOME SHINGLES WERE REMOVED FROM A SINGLE
FAMILY HOME. CLOSER TO HWY 231...THE ROOF OF A LARGE HAY BARN
COLLAPSED. THE TORNADO CONTINUED NORTHEAST ACROSS CR 209 AND FORTNER
ROAD APPROACHING CR 52. SEVERAL TREES WERE UPROOTED ALONG THIS PATH
SEGMENT.

WATCHES: TORNADO WATCH #757 WAS IN EFFECT FROM 349 AM UNTIL 1100 AM.
The tornado touched down approximately 4.5 miles east of Hollins near the
Brownsville Community or just south of Chapman Road on Brownsville Loop Road.
Much of the damage path was very minor and consisted of tree limb damage. The
most significant damage occurred along County Road 7 just north of Partridge
Creek Road. Several trees were either uprooted or were snapped off in this area.
Additionally, one vehicles suffered moderate damage due to a fallen tree. The
tornado lifted just after it crossed County Road 7. The tornado damage path was
only 1.7 miles long and was 40 yards wide at its widest point.
