National Weather Service meteorologists surveyed the damage from near Oak Grove to near Marbury. It has been determined that the damage was consistent with a tornado. Winds were estimated around 90 mph. The tornado touched down just south of the Old Kingston community along County Road 21. The tornado tracked northeastward and crossed County Road 57, Interstate 65, Highway 31, and Highway 143. Numerous trees were snapped off or were uprooted along the damage path. Several structures suffered minor damage. The tornado lifted just east of Marbury near County Road 20. The tornado damage path was 13.42 miles long and 200 yards wide at its widest point. A Tornado Warning was in effect from 810 pm until 9 pm.   A second Tornado Warning was issued and was in effect from 852 pm until 930 pm.
