National Weather Service meteorologists surveyed the damage that began between Sawyerville and Greensboro and traveled northeast to just north of Greensboro. It has been determined that the damage was consistent with a tornado. Winds were estimated at 115 mph and this tornado was witnessed by several dozen people and storm spotters. The tornado touched down near the intersection of Alabama Highway 14 and County Road 21. The tornado lifted near County Road 19, west of Alabama Highway 69. There were no known injuries, but one person was trapped in an overturned mobile home for several hours. There was significant damage to windows and the roof of a church and moderate roof damage occurred to several homes and businesses. Several hundred trees were snapped and uprooted. The tornado damage path was 2.20 miles long and was 700 yards wide at its widest point.

A Tornado Warning was in effect from 256 pm until 345 pm.
