A cold front will bring showers and potentially storms to parts of north and central Georgia Saturday night through Sunday morning. Rainfall is unlikely to exceed around a quarter inch (with the exception of far northwest Georgia), which is not nearly enough to put a dent in the drought.

Unfortunately, Georgia is only getting drier with each passing week without appreciable rainfall. Farmers are reporting delayed planting and field preparation, plus the ground being so hard that it is damaging farming equipment. Very dry vegetation has necessitated more frequent issuances of Fire Danger Statements and Red Flag Warnings to communicate hazardous conditions for fire ignitions and spreading.
