The Plains to the mid-Mississippi Valley continue with warm and dry conditions. Any fires that initiate could spread quickly. The warm temperatures will expand across the Southern Plains into the Southwest where numerous records are expected through the weekend. Here's a review of October's weather at a few select locations. In short, October was a continuation of September with below normal precipitation and above normal temperatures across the board. Over the past 2 months, from September 1st through October 31st, Aberdeen (at the airport) has received just 0.21" of moisture which ranks as the 2nd least on record during this time (0.10" in 1952).
