Snow in the Rockies; Showers and Thunderstorms Along the Gulf Coast; Potential Winter Storm for Northern Mid-Atlantic and Interior New England

A winter-like pattern will continue over much of the Lower 48 over the next few days, with snow stretching from the Rockies today into the Middle Mississippi Valley on Monday. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along the Gulf Coast and Southeast on Monday. Here's a review of October's weather at a few select locations. In short, October was a continuation of September with below normal precipitation and above normal temperatures across the board. Over the past 2 months, from September 1st through October 31st, Aberdeen (at the airport) has received just 0.21" of moisture which ranks as the 2nd least on record during this time (0.10" in 1952).
