Last Map Update: Sat, Mar 28, 2026 at 7:44:08 pm MDT

Moisture will increase enough Sunday for isolated and gusty virga showers, and perhaps a dry thunderstorm, to develop over the Southwest Mountains and along and west of the Continental Divide across west central NM. Virga showers and dry thunderstorms expand in coverage across western and central NM Monday and Tuesday. Dry lightning may spark new fires.
Stronger west-southwest winds combined with minimum relative humidity values in upper single digits to low teens and very dry fuels will result in the potential for rapid fire spread across northeast New Mexico Monday afternoon.
Northern New Mexico may finally receive some beneficial precipitation come the middle of the week. While amounts are not impressive, light precipitation will be welcomed after the extended stretch of exceptionally hot and dry weather.
Near record to record warmth returns Sunday and Monday. Cooler midweek with beneficial precipitation chances before warmer temperatures and dry conditions return late next week.
