Moderate to Major heat risk is expected in the Rio Grande Valley and southeast NM Tuesday afternoon. Highs from the high 90s to mid 100s are very likely. Folks should stay hydrated, avoid long time periods outdoors, and check on people without adequate cooling.
Scattered virga and isolated dry thunderstorms may produce abrupt, erratic gusty winds and dry lightning across portions of western NM Tuesday afternoon and evening expanding into much of central New Mexico Wednesday through Friday.
A low probability exists for a strong to severe thunderstorm to clip far northeast NM Tuesday evening.
There is a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms across northeast and east central NM on Wednesday. The main threats will be large hail and damaging wind gusts.
