National Weather Service United States Department of Commerce

A few thunderstorms in the east central plains will have a tendency to turn strong to severe on Sunday. In addition to heavy downpours and lightning, damaging winds would be the main threat.
Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will develop Sunday afternoon with the Sangre de Cristo mountains, southwestern mountains, and east central plains being the favored areas. Any storms in central New Mexico will produce less rainfall due to evaporation (virga). Temperatures will not be quite as hot, except in northwestern areas of New Mexico.
Temperatures will run near to a few degrees below normal for mid July. Daily scattered afternoon storms will be common.
