Last Map Update: Fri, May 15, 2026 at 3:06:17 am MDT

Increasing winds this weekend before strong to damaging winds along and east of the central mountain chain Monday. These winds combined with very low relative humidity values and dry vegetation will result in a multiday period of critical to extremely critical fire weather conditions. Currently, it looks like fire danger will be highest on Sunday across eastern NM where winds will be strongest and humidity will be lowest.
Another very warm to hot day across northern and central New Mexico with a moderate risk for heat related illnesses across the southeast plains, including Roswell. Isolated high based showers and storms across northeast New Mexico during the afternoon will result in some erratic wind gusts which could create some patchy blowing dust and briefly hazardous crosswinds on roadways.
Highs will remain well above average areawide through Saturday. Cooling down to near average across western NM Sunday and near to slightly below average areawide beginning Monday.
