Last Map Update: Wed, Jun 17, 2026 at 11:22:17 pm MDT

Winds will remain gusty over the Continental Divide through the overnight. Then, a cold front brings stronger winds to the eastern plains early Thursday morning. Gusts of 40 to near 50 mph will create strong crosswinds, and loose items such as lawn furniture or garbage cans may be tossed around.
A moist, cool front will enter northeastern New Mexico through Thursday, leading to cooler temperatures there. However, hot readings will be observed elsewhere across northern and central New Mexico. A few isolated thunderstorms will develop over the southern Sangre de Cristos, as well as the south central and southwestern mountains Thursday afternoon.
The remnants of a cool, moist front will keep high temperatures closer to normal on Friday while hot readings continue to impact the central to western valleys of New Mexico. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop along and east of the central mountain chain of the state during the afternoon.
