Low pressure will track slowly northwestward into the Mid-Atlantic region through midweek bringing a risk for excessive rainfall, gusty winds, shallow coastal flooding, rip currents, and large surf. At this time the main threats from severe storms looks like they will be large hail and damaging winds on Wednesday. In addition, locally heavy rainfall may produce minor flooding over the northeast plains Wednesday afternoon and evening.

A few of the stronger storms over northeast areas on Wednesday will be capable of producing rain at rates over 1 inch per hour with a marginal risk of flash flooding.

The best environment for severe thunderstorms will be in northeastern New Mexico, The main threats will be large hail and damaging wind gusts during the afternoon on Wednesday.
