Another round of severe storms is expected this afternoon and evening across eastern NM with large hail and damaging wind gusts possible.
As high temperatures climb well into the 90s over western areas on Sunday afternoon, very low humidity values and strong winds will create critical fire weather conditions. The most critical conditions will occur across the northwest plateau, where winds will blow the strongest.
Strong to damaging east canyon winds will develop in Albuquerque near or shortly after midnight Sunday night. Gusts between 50 and65 mph will be possible below Tijeras Canyon. East canyon winds will gradually weaken after sunrise Monday morning but it is forecast to linger into Monday night.
Hot temperatures are expected Sunday afternoon. Temperatures will approach 100 degrees in the Rio Grande Valley and over 105 degrees around Roswell.
