Widepsread to numerous showers and storms will favor north central and northeast NM this evening and well into the overnight hours. Locally heavy rainfall is possible along with likely burn scar flash flooding on the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon burn scar.
Showers and storms with locally heavy rainfall will persist overnight, especially across northeast NM. Locally up to 2 inches of rainfall are possible across the Sangre De Cristo Mountains and northeast plains.
Recent burn scars like the South Fork, Salt and Blue 2 burn scars around Ruidoso and the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon Burn Scar across the east slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountain are more prone to flash flooding due to soils unable to absorb rainfall. Be prepared for flash flooding and debris flow in and around the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon burn scar this evening and overnight!
Outflow from storms east of the central mountain chain will result in a gusty east canyon wind for the ABQ Metro this evening before tapering off overnight. Some diffcult crosswinds will exist on north to south oriented roads and highways.
A few strong to severe storms are possible across north-central and northeastern NM this afternoon through around midnight. Large hail, damaging wind gusts, and heavy rainfall capable of producing flash flooding will be the main threats.
