Last Map Update: Tue, Jul 23, 2024 at 6:20:04 pm MDT

The overall coverage of storms today will be less than the past several days, but it only takes one storm to create flash flooding. Storms will develop over the high terrain around noon and move south during the afternoon.
Storms should turn more isolated this evening and come to an end before midnight in most areas. Overnight temperatures will reach the 40's in high mountain elevations of northern New Mexico while remaining northern and central areas drop into the 50's and 60's.
Showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday will be focused over the higher terrain of western and central New Mexico and especially over the southwestern mountains and San Francisco river valley where a Flood Watch is in effect.
Daily rounds of scattered showers and storms will continue each afternoon and evening through the weekend. Widespread rainfall totals greater than 0.25" are likely and some locations may see over 2" in the high terrain of western and northern NM. Burn scars and areas with saturated soils will be the most at risk for flash flooding.
This table indicates the probability for thunderstorms over wildfire burn areas.
