Significant Winter Storm to Bring Heavy Snow and Ice Impacts; Dangerously Cold Temperatures Expands Across the East

A significant, long-duration winter storm will bring widespread heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain from the Southern Rockies to New England through Monday. Widespread travel disruptions, prolonged power outages, and vast tree damage is likely. A winter storm warning has been issued for Saturday morning through Monday morning. Major to extreme impacts are to be expected, including: power outages, downed trees, and impassible roadways. Reduced travel is advised.
A significant winter storm is expected over the weekend. Heavy snow and ice totals are expected. Prepare for major impacts. Additionally, very cold temperatures will follow the winter storm.
Arctic air will settle over the region resulting in dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills over the weekend and into next week. Be sure to bring pets indoors, dress in layers and cover any exposed skin, limit outdoor activities, and check on neighbors and loved ones.
