High heat and humidity will result in dangerous to significant heat stress today this weekend, with heat index values peaking above 110F across portions of the northwest Delta, while near to above 105F elsewhere. Remember to stay hydrated and avoid strenuous outdoor activities, and make sure neighbors, relatives and pets have a cool place to spend the day.
Some relief in heat stress will occur early next week, but persistent heat and humidity keep continued dangerous heat south of Highway 82. Heat index values will peak around or above 105F, especially along and south of the Interstate 20 corridor. Remember to stay hydrated and avoid strenuous outdoor activities, and make sure neighbors, relatives and pets have a cool place to spend the day.
Scattered to numerous showers, along with a few thunderstorms, will be possible across mainly central, eastern, and southern portions of the area Saturday afternoon. Hot, muggy conditions will exist as highs climb into the low and middle 90s.
Isolated showers may linger into the early evening across mainly southeast Mississippi. Otherwise, skies will become partly cloudy toward day break Saturday, with lows in the low to mid 70s.
Scattered to numerous showers, along with a few thunderstorms, will be possible across the area Sunday afternoon. Hot, muggy conditions will exist as highs climb into the low and middle 90s.
