Macon County Tornado |
Two meteorologists from the National Weather Service Office in Birmingham conducted a storm survey in Macon County on Tuesday, December 19th and identified one tornado track.
An F0 tornado touched down about 4.5 miles east of Shorter...in Western Macon County...at the intersection of CR 30 and CR 9. The tornado track was 0.6 of a mile long and about 50 yards wide. Three houses were damaged...mainly in the form of blown out windows and roof damage. Radar data suggests the tornado began at 546 PM and dissipated at 547 PM. A Tornado Warning for Macon County was in effect from 538 PM to 615 PM. Macon County was under a tornado watch for most of the day last Saturday. |
