Extremely Critical Fire Weather in New Mexico & West Texas; Severe Thunderstorms for the Great Plains

Extremely critical fire weather (Level 3 of 3) including high winds and very dry conditions is expected this afternoon and evening for central and southern New Mexico into far west Texas. Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms are possible mainly this evening into early morning Monday across parts of the Great Plains.   Overview

As another storm system is beginning to impact the state, here is the summary of the last storm which affected the area Friday and Saturday.  The hardest hit areas were the Teton Mountains, Star Valley, Salt River and Wyoming Mountain ranges. A few locations saw almost 2 feet of snow.  This system also brought bitter cold across the area with some locations dropping into the negative 20s and even a few negative 30s were recorded!  The combination of these cold temperatures, snow, and some gusty winds in prone locations made for poor travel conditions this holiday weekend.
