The Hydrologic Software Engineering Branch (HSEB) facilitates the hydrology science-to-operations path by performing requirements analysis, design, development, testing, documentation, implementation, and maintenance of application and database software to be used by field offices to conduct the National Weather Service's Hydrologic Services Program.

HSEB establishes the processes used within the Hydrology Laboratory (HL) for software and database engineering and is responsible for quality assurance of software developed in the HL.

The HSEB is also responsible for the software maintenance and realtime operations of the Hydrometeorological Automated Data System (HADS), as well as for maintaining the Information Technology Security integrity for all of OHD's computing platforms .
