Scattered Severe Thunderstorms Across the Northern Plains; Fire Weather Concerns in the Western U.S.

Scattered severe thunderstorms are forecast across central and eastern North Dakota, as well as far northwest Minnesota Saturday (Slight Risk level 2 of 5). Damaging wind gusts are the primary threat. ...The State of Michigan Will Conduct a Live Test Tornado Warning Wednesday April 13th...
 
The National Weather Service will use NOAA Weather Radio To conduct a statewide live test tornado drill on Wednesday April 13th. At 130 pm EDT, the National Weather Service will use a live tornado warning code on NOAA Weather Radio to simulate an actual tornado warning. These tests will cover all counties in Michigan and will originate from the NWS offices at Grand Rapids...Gaylord...Marquette... Detroit/Pontiac...and Northern Indiana. Persons are urged to practice their tornado safety measures during the drill.
 
To all media in the state, please be aware of these messages and take appropriate actions as necessary. The message will be sent out on NOAA Weather Radio EAS encoding units using a live tornado warning code (T O R) and will activate E A S.
 
To our NOAA Weather Radio listeners, please be aware that the NOAA Weather Radio alarm tone will be activated on Wednesday April 13th at 130 pm for the live tornado warning code (T O R SAME code). The 130 pm EDT statewide tornado drill will replace the normal scheduled Wednesday routine weekly test (R W T SAME code).
 
The statewide live test tornado warning is being conducted in partnership with the State of Michigan, Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division, Michigan Association of Broadcasters, local and state emergency management, the Michigan Committee for Severe Weather Awareness, and the American Red Cross.
