Record Breaking Snow Storm April 16, 2007

A record snowstorm of 11.7 inches occurred at the National Weather Service Office located at the Greater Binghamton Airport on Monday, April 16^th. The previous record snowstorm was 11.5 inches set on April 9^th, 1960. This snowstorm will go down as one of the greatest April snowstorms on record for Central New York and Northeast Pennsylvania, where 1 to 2 feet of snow was common. The snow was heavy and wet in nature and brought down many trees and power lines as winds gusted over 40 mph.
