  1. What is the mission of your organization?
My mission of my organization at Gallaudet University is to share the signing documentary video to all deaf, hard of hearing and deaf-blind members about their safety when a lightning storm is approaching and how to run for their own safety. The comments I have received so far are: “Wow! That’s great and the message is clearly understood for all levels of communication such as a fluent signer to non-signer;” “We need more of this type of video clipping for other types of weathers such has hurricane, tornado, flood, snowstorm, earthquake, and wildfires if anyone is outdoor and not being around nearby shelters;” “This video is wonderful;” AND one non-signer commented “I understood the message without knowing sign language like ‘PERSON-STANDING-FRONT-WINDOW MOVE-AWAY,’ ‘LIGHNING-STRIKE-ANY-DIRECTION,’ ‘CLOCK-MOVE-HALF-HOUR GO-OUT.’

  2. What has your organization done to promote a Weather Ready Nation? (i.e. what did your WFO recognize your for?)
My organization is proud that I am an ambassador to ensure the quality of communication for all parties.

  3. What does being an Ambassador mean to you?
Being an ambassador is to assist National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for better preparation for any types of weather catastrophic incidents across the country in sign language whereas everyone can understand. This year, our nation has encountered multiple disasters of all kinds.

  4. What are your goals for the next year concerning preparedness? For the coming years, my goals are to ensure that all television broadcasters are preparing all diverse citizens to know what they will need to do when they encounter unexpected change of weather in their hometown that is not predicted in CLOSED CAPTIONED and picture-in-picture with the sign language interpreter who can sign universally just like Daisy Rivenbark did.

I am enclosing one example of television clipping that was not close-captioned during a severe thunderstorm in DC Metro area on May 2, 2016 at 8:58 from WJLA Channel 7. http://drive.google.com/drive/recent
