What has your organization done to promote a Weather Ready Nation? (i.e. what did your WFO recognize your for?)
We were the first organization in the Shreveport/Bossier area to become a Weather Ready Nation partner in 2014. We have had outreach and programs with NOAA such as Bill Parker speaking at our Adult Summer Reading Program in the Summer of 2014 and NOAA representatives came to our Library Expo in May 2015. We had positive feedback from our patrons on the NOAA programs and events.
What does being an Ambassador mean to you?
Community partnerships are important to us at the Bossier Parish Library. We want to do our part in making our staff and patrons aware of weather and how it affects our region.
What are your goals for the next year concerning preparedness?
We want to continue being a Weather Ready Nation partner and to continue offering informative and interesting weather related programs to our patrons. In the next few years, the Central Library will be renovated. We want to include weather preparedness in the planning of the renovated building.
