Winter Storm to Track From the West Coast Across the Upper Midwest & Northeast Through this Weekend

A Pacific storm will bring strong winds, heavy rain, and mountain snow from the Sierras to Rockies on Friday. The storm will then track east through the Midwest producing heavy snow from the Dakotas to the Great Lakes on Saturday. It’s a windy end to the work week, with gusty southwesterly winds continuing across most of the region. Gusts of 30-40mph will be common today, and could produce localized blowing dust as well as dangerous crosswinds on portions of Highway 395 in the Owens Valley along with Highway 95 downwind of the Spring Mountains and portions of area interstates. Plan ahead and be careful today, especially if you’re driving a high profile vehicle!
Gusty southwest winds will return to the region today, sticking around through tomorrow. Widespread 40 to 55 mph gusts are expected across south central California & southern Nevada with 60+ mph gusts in areas of higher terrain. Make sure to secure loose items and use caution when driving.
