TsunamiReady and TsunamiReady Supporter are voluntary programs that provide guidance and incentives to communities and entities interested in improving their tsunami preparedness and operations. The TsunamiReady application shall be used by communities to apply for initial TsunamiReady recognition and renewal of that recognition every three years. The TsunamiReady Supporter application shall be used by qualifying entities for initial TsunamiReady Supporter designation for a five-year period.

The government will use the information collected by the TsunamiReady/TsunamiReady Supporter application to determine whether the applicant community or entity has met all of the criteria to receive TsunamiReady recognition or TsunamiReady Supporter designation, as applicable. Data collected through this form are considered public information.

Notwithstanding any other provision of the law, no person is required to, nor shall be subject to a penalty for failure to comply with a collection of information subject to the requirements of the Paperwork Reduction Act, unless that collection of information displays a currently valid OMB Control Number.

Public reporting burden for this collection of information is estimated to average two hours per response for the Tsunami Ready application and one hour per response for the TsunamiReady Supporter application, including the time for reviewing the guidelines/criteria, searching existing data sources, gathering and maintaining the data collected, and completing and reviewing the collection of information (application). Instructions for Completing Application

  • Review the TsunamiReady Guidelines or TsunamiReady Supporter Criteria, as applicable.
  • With advice and assistance from your local NWS Warning Coordination Meteorologist, complete all sections of the TsunamiReady or TsunamiReady Supporter application based on your community's or entity's current assets and capabilities.
  • Send the completed forms to your NWS Warning Coordination Meteorologist at the local NWS Weather Forecast Office servicing the applicant community.
  • Receive a decision on whether your community or entity qualifies in one to three months.
