Scattered Severe Storms to Continue Over the Central and Southern Plains this Weekend; Snow in the Sierra Nevada

Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms will persist over the central to southern High Plains this weekend with a severe weather and flash flooding threat. A late season storm will bring low elevation rain and high elevation snow to portions of California, Nevada and Oregon through the weekend. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through 11 am Sunday for elevations above 6000 feet along the Sierra and southern Cascades.
Periods of moderate mountain snow expected through Sunday morning. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches above 6000 feet, with up to 12 inches over highest peaks.
A weather system brings scattered rain showers to portions of the Delta, Valley, and foothills this weekend, alongside some isolated thunderstorm chances from Highway 50 southward this afternoon and evening.
