NWS Fax Chart Users From: RTH Washington IDP DataFlow Subject: Operational transition of the GOES-19 satellite to become GOES-East on or after April 7, 2025 Effective: April 7, 2025 1510Z On or after April 7, 2025, at approximately 15:10 UTC, GOES-19, the newest satellite in the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) series, will become the operational GOES-East satellite, replacing GOES-16. As of that date, all data products from GOES-19 will permanently replace those from GOES-16 on the Satellite Broadcast Network (SBN). This is outlined within the following NWS SCN: https://www.weather.gov/media/notification/pdf_2025/scn25-30_updated_transitionGOES-19_%20to_GOES-EAST_Apr_7_2025.pdf In addition to changes to the GOES products flowing over the SBN, any WMO-headed GOES-16 products that flow to GTS customers will be replaced with WMO-headed GOES-19 products. No changes to the WMO headers are expected as GOES-19 will use the same headers as were used for GOES-16 based products. If you have any questions regarding distribution or would like to add these products to your datastream please contact IDP Dataflow at ncep.nco.dm@noaa.gov.
